Reflection Questions and Spiritual Practices to accompany
Christianity Today’s Ever Approaching Dawn Devotional
Reflection Questions:
The author writes, “Faith does not insist on a map. Faith asks only that we do the next thing.” How do you feel about those statements? Is this kind of faith easy or difficult for you?
What are some next things - however simple or ordinary - that God is inviting you to do as you walk with Him this week?
Spiritual Practice: Sabbath
In echo-ing the passage referenced in this week’s devotional, we remember the practice of Sabbath. The Sabbath was a command for the Jewish people but as Jesus establishes a New Covenant, the Sabbath becomes a gift for us that continues in the tradition of the rhythms of rest and work that God established in creation.
In our bustling and distracting culture, even in moments of free time, it can often feel difficult to enter into a deep kind of Sabbath rest in God. This week, what would an intentional Sabbath look like for you? What would you do during that time to free yourself from distraction, to enter in a time to play and to pray with God and to trust that He is over all things? Make plans to try and implement Sabbath this week!
