Reflection Questions:

  1. What feelings was Jesus possibly experiencing that night as He was in the Garden of Gethsemane with Peter, James and John?

  2. Do you find you are able to go to God in honesty with your emotions in the same way that Jesus demonstrates?

  3. How does Jesus’s demonstration of surrender help encourage us to trust in God even more?

Spiritual Practice: Prayers of Honesty

“Prayer is not a place to be good, it is a place to be honest. Prayer is not a place to perform, it is a place to be present. Prayer is not a place to be right, it is a place to be known. Prayer is not a place to prove your worth, it is a place to receive worth and offer yourself in truth.”1

As Christians, we sometimes think we have to be a certain way when we pray. On this Wednesday, we invite you to spend some time in honest prayer, honestly sharing with God any anguish, frustration, sorrows, questions, doubts, or concerns, knowing that He hears and cares for you.
