Youth Pastor

Palos Verdes Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor. The Youth Pastor will develop, plan, and direct an integrated ministry to the youths of PVBC for their salvation and spiritual growth.  “Youths” include junior high, high school, and college students.  This position works under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Pastor.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain a long-term strategy for the youth ministry of PVBC that supports the overall vision of the church. 
2. Establish annual goals, objectives, and plans to implement the youth ministry strategy.
3. Plan and oversee all youth activities and programs, including (but not limited to): giving messages at Sunday morning youth worship services, teaching at Friday evening youth fellowships, leading discipleship groups, and organizing youth retreats, mission trips, and other special events.
4. Provide spiritual counsel and personal outreach to the youths, with the goal of producing Christ-likeness in them.
5. Develop student leadership through training and personal discipleship.
6. Supervise and mentor collegiate youth interns, if applicable, and perform duties required by relevant agreements with the schools.
7. Recruit, train, and oversee volunteer youth staff.
8. Maintain open communication and engage with the parents of the youths and members of the congregation in order to solicit feedback and support.
9. Coordinate with other church staff (e.g. Children’s Director) to assure consistency of direction and mutual support.
10. Assist with other ministry needs as requested by the Senior Pastor. 

Qualifications:

1. Born-again evangelical Christian
2. Loves the Lord and has a heart for youths
3. Possess good knowledge of the Bible
4. Has an effective prayer life
5. A person of good repute
6. Has a graduate degree in Biblical studies, or the equivalent training/experience
7. Highly desirable: 1-2 years experience as a youth worker

 Salary: 

Attractive compensation, commensurate with experience

Palos Verdes Baptist Church is an American Baptist church serving the Palos Verdes Peninsula and South Bay area with approximately 100 adults, 50 youth, and 25 children.
