The Philippians 4 Fund was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which has left many jobless and worrying if they can provide food for their family and a place to live. Many missionaries and ministries are struggling to continue their important work. PVBC wants to be a part of bringing “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7)  into the hearts of minds of those whom God loves. Click the video below for details!

The Philippians 4 fund matching program has concluded. You can still give to the Philippians 4 fund and your donation will go toward feeding and supporting people in need.

But remember, the matching program has concluded.

“To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Philippians 4:20)

Through PVBC’s generous giving, we have already been able to:

  • Provide a month’s worth of groceries for 140 families!

  • Enable hot meals for almost 700 people!

  • Support homelessness prevention, especially for those who have graduated from homelessness but have now been laid off because of virus-related shutdowns.

  • Provide immediate relief to people in ministry and in our community who have lost their jobs because of virus-related shutdowns.

Care has gone into selecting Christian faith-based organizations that proclaim Jesus, are well-managed, and have accountability structures in place so that the funds will be well-used. Partners include:

Thank you for your kind hearts and generous giving! You are helping reveal the God who “will supply every need…according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.“ People’s hearts are being turned to Jesus because of the help they have received and the love they have felt!

Here’s a little of what we’ve heard from recipients of Philippians 4 Fund gifts:

For one recipient, the gift came at a time when they said they needed it most. Receiving from people who are not biological family nor close friends pierced their heart. It was a revelation of what love looks like from God through others, especially when they did not ask nor reveal their need.

PVBC helped purchase a new commercial refrigerator for New Challenge Ministries, Inc. Their recent newsletter shared.... "And finally we have a new Commercial Refrigerator. Thank you to Torrance Kiwanis, Palos Verdes Baptist Church, and the Olson's for this wonderful purchase" — Pastor John Hernandez, New Challenge Ministries, Inc

"Family--it's who we are! You, me and every parent and child that your generosity impacts. Like all families, you've been there for us, and it means so much to know that even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic your commitment to families experiencing homelessness is unwavering. You have given from your heart and in turn touched so many lives. Thank you! " — Megan Katerjian, Executive Director, Door of Hope

Note: Megan also shares that therapists and case managers are meeting more frequently with families, not less. Door of Hope scholarshipped one resident to complete her GED online because she finally has the time, and they have helped 3 homeless families to move into permanent housing. We have helped change the lives of many. See more about Door of Hope ministries in this Missions Moment video

"We are humbled by your confidence in our ability to provide vital services including food, utility and rent assistance, after school programs, senior citizen programs and shelters. Each year, The Salvation Army helps nearly 30 million Americans. That's one person helped every second! The needs are as diverse as the people we serve and we remain committed to answering the call for help when asked. We simply could not do what we do without your partnership. On behalf of all those whose lives are impacted so directly through your giving, please accept my sincere thanks. May God richly bless you for caring about your neighbors in need." — Captains Justin & Aimee Docherty, commanding officers, The Salvation Army

I can't tell you how much it means to the people of our community to know others are here to support them...caring, people like you. It's not just the donation, it's also knowing they are not alone.....Your gift will be put to work immediately, making a real difference." — Kimberly Flowers, Atherton Homes

"Thank you so very much for your generosity to the Ranch ministries. It is a great encouragement to us to know that you are participating with us as we serve here in La Paz, specifically in this time of great need for the communities here. We currently have 806 families (representing over 3000 individuals) on our list for food baskets......Thank you again for your support of our relief efforts here. Our Mexican staff thanks you and so do we, from the bottom of our hearts!! Please let your congregation know how much we appreciate their generosity. We are also praying for you as we imagine you have many difficult decisions as well about how to proceed with ministry in these times." — Pete and Emily, Rancho el Camino

"I am overwhelmed with your church's love and generosity for our community. It arrives at just the right time. Atherton unfortunately has had an outbreak of COVID-19. Though no residents have been infected, 6 staff members have now tested positive. These staff members are doing well, but this news has filled our campus with anxiety. We appreciate so much your prayers and support and the Scripture you quoted, Philippians 4:19-20, is a reminder of the great resource we have in Jesus Christ. Thank you again." — Rev Statton, Pres./CEO Atherton

"A heartfelt thanks to you and your generous church for helping some of the families in my church with living expenses during COVID-19. You have taught the members to live out the Biblical mandate of helping others in need. We appreciate you and your church" — Pastor, Asian American Pastors Colloquium

“We want to say thank you so much to Palos Verdes Baptist Church for your sympathy and compassion. What your church had extended toward my family during this difficult time. Your Church love and kindness touched our Hearts and teach us the way of God. It's a big help for my family....”

“I just wanted you to know that I received the $1000 gift. It was an AMAZING blessing to receive and wanted to express my deepest gratitude. God has been faithful and gracious…He found ways to provide for my meals every day…Praise Jesus for His love and providence. It has been awesome knowing how good God is.”

“…we are doing our best to be the hands and feet of Jesus by providing their daily bread”

"Just wanted to send a huge THANK YOU for your generosity...The first week of giving out food baskets went great and we got together about 25; the next week we doubled and were able to give out around 50! This week we are shooting for more as people (like you!) are being so generous in meeting the needs of the families around us…these food baskets are a blessing as practically everyone in our communities have lost their jobs” — TEAM Mexico, Rancho El Camino

“Thank you so much for standing with us…Everyone is going through transition, sacrifice, and difficulty, we know. But in mid-March, I realized our church was vulnerable due to the large number of low-income individuals….One of them whose storefront closed had strayed away from the church, but has been coming back in part through this love gift. Another said…'Now I can go out and get groceries’…Another…is now able to pay his phone bill to keep his phone on and buy food.” — Pastor of a sister church
